The “Who Comes and Who Goes” artwork comes from the Javanese Philosophy ‘Urip iku mung mampir ngombe’ which translates to ‘life is only a stopover to drink’. We are born in this world, unable to predict how we will end up in the end. This picture portrays a female worker who shouldered goods on her back which represents “come”. On the other hand, the other object (same figure) is seen bringing a wooden trunk. Every day the worker's body endures a heavy burden on her back, however the life she lives is even heavier than the weight she carries physically.
